Press Release

Interim CEO to take the helm at the PFRA

30 January 2006

Following the departure of incumbent chief executive Sue Brumpton the PFRA’s Executive Board has taken the decision to appoint an interim director to ensure continuity, whilst at the same time beginning the process of open recruitment for a permanent post holder.

Timothy Hornsby, Chair of the PFRA spoke about the decision.

“Sue Brumpton, has given us three years of excellent service as the PFRA’s chief executive and leading the organisation to many successes, including important work with the Home office on the Charities Bill and involvement in the establishment of the Regulation of Fundraising Scheme. She has now decided to further her career by taking up role of CEO for the Medical Engineering Resource Unit.”

As recruiting a suitable permanent replacement may take some time the Executive Board, which is responsible for governance of the PFRA, decided that the PFRA needed an interim chief at the helm to continue Sue’s good work. Following this decision, all members of the PFRA were invited to put themselves forward to undertake the role in a temporary capacity to ensure work continued on the MapIT project, the final phases of the charities bill and the further development of effective working relationships with local authorities and partners within the voluntary sector. At the recent Executive Board meeting Mick Aldridge, a long serving member of the PFRA, was formally appointed to the post.

Mr Hornsby continued,
“Mick Aldridge’s long involvement and in-depth knowledge of the PFRA and face-to-face fundraising made him an ideal candidate to step into the role of interim chief executive and all of the executive board members felt that he would be more than able to hit the ground running and continue taking the PFRA forward whilst a new director is appointed. He will report into the executive board and myself as its independent chair.”

Mick Aldridge will take up the appointment from 8th February.
