CREDIT INDUSTRY CAUTIONS AGAINST INFORMATION OVERLOAD
Representatives of the UK consumer credit industry today welcomed the findings of a joint Better Regulation Executive and National Consumer Council report which warns that too much information can be detrimental to consumers.
Speaking on behalf of the UK credit industry Cross Industry Group, FLA Head of Public Affairs, Edward Simpson said:
"This report is very timely, as the European Parliament begins to discuss the Consumer Credit Directive.
"Many of the Directive’s provisions would produce information overload of the worst kind.
"We hope MEPs will take a commonsense approach and recognise that consumers need concise and relevant information.”
The letter sets out some of the key provisions of the Directive which represent excess consumer information.
