RISING DEBT PRESSURES: FLA CONFERENCE LOOKS AT INCREASES IN PERSONAL AND CORPORATE INSOLVENCY

10 October 2005

With both personal and corporate debt levels on the increase, a one-day conference in London this week organised by FLA (Finance & Leasing Association) takes a timely look at insolvency issues and their impact on the finance industry.  The event is organised in association with Davies Wallis Foyster and Tenon Group plc.

Since the introduction of the Enterprise Act in 2002, personal bankruptcy has increased rapidly and the first half of 2005 has seen a significant rise in corporate insolvencies, especially in the retail sector.

Both these indicators of stress in the economy will be put under the spotlight at the Insolvency Conference on Thursday 13 October when keynote presentations from the DTI address the current economic climate, future trends and their impact on insolvency.

An in- depth look will be taken at the growth of debt management companies and those dealing with high volumes of individual voluntary arrangements, while an insider view will be given by Max Recovery, major purchasers of consumer debt from finance houses and credit card providers.

The afternoon session focuses on corporate insolvency, with the Insolvency Service giving an overview of the Government perspective and DWF solicitors and Tenon, business advisors and recovery specialists, illustrating how they help businesses facing problems.

There is still time to register for this essential event for directors and managers involved in asset-based lending, litigation, credit risk, insolvency management, credit control and debt collection sectors.

The conference is being held on 13 October at One Whitehall Place, London SW1.  More details from www.flaevents.org.uk or by contacting Linda Charles at FLA, Tel: 020 7420 9626 or Email: linda.charles@fla.org.uk
