Press Release
ECA MEMBERSHIP GROWS
12 January 2006
The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) reports a significant growth in membership during the past year. Membership now stands at 2,637 members, a growth of 28 per cent since January 2004.
Whilst some of the increase maybe attributed to membership resulting from Part P certification, ECA believes that that it is also due to a higher profile that has increased awareness of the benefits of being an ECA member. In addition to its national lobbying work, ECA also provides a comprehensive business resource that is being increasingly recognised and valued by both new and longer standing members. Membership services include industrial relations and contractual advice, training, technical briefings, debt recovery assistance and insurance provision.
“The increase in membership is welcomed. It validates not only the work we are doing but also the range of business services that we offer”, said David Pollock, ECA director.
Over 65 per cent of ECA’s 2,637 members have a turnover of £500k or less. Analysis of these companies shows that within 5 years of joining over half of these companies have doubled their turnover.
“The range of services helps ECA members to increase their turnover by offering them a significant business resource. This resource helps to keep them informed of current issues and new legislation as well as offering practical business assistance in terms of debt recovery, training, personnel and legal matters”, said Pollock.
He continued “For ECA the increase in membership means that the Association is able to successfully represent the electrical contracting sector as a whole and provide a voice for the contractor at both national and local level”.
