The Confederation of Forest Industries (ConFor) has been established to help build the market for sustainable timber and timber products, to create a supportive policy environment for wood growing and using businesses and to help members become more competitive and successful.

ConFor’s remit covers all parts of the wood supply chain, from nurseries through to timber growers, contractors, harvesters, sawmills and other processors of wood. We are here to provide the industry with a strong voice in the market place and in all levels of government - international, UK and local.

In this climate change conscious world the UK’s wood using sector is well placed to help deliver a low carbon economy and promote sustainable rural development. The sector provides 167,000 direct jobs in the UK and generates £7.2 billion worth of gross value added. Growing trees lock up carbon and wood products can be used as carbon lean, recyclable building materials or for renewable energy.
