Our Members' Services

In addition to actuarial advice on pension scheme contribution levels, funding and valuations, Members advise on scheme design and implementation of new pension schemes as well as on amendments to the benefits available from existing schemes. This work includes drafting explanatory literature, guidance on computer systems, benefit calculations, annual benefit statements and the maintenance of scheme accounts.

ACA Members also advise on the selection of pension fund investment managers, investment objectives and asset allocation strategies and will analyse and monitor pension fund performance.

They provide skilled guidance in connection with the pension implications of mergers, acquisitions and sales, including the rationalisation of pension arrangements. ACA Members are also active in assisting controlling directors to benefit fully from small self-administered pension schemes as well as wider personal financial planning advice and guidance on personal pensions.

ACA Members analyse the employer cost and employee value of all elements in a total remuneration package, as well as designing flexible benefits arrangements and advising on healthcare arrangements.

ACA Members also act as advisers to governments, life assurance companies, banks, building societies, unit trusts and friendly societies both in the UK and overseas, and increasingly Members' advice is sought by general and captive insurers on matters of premium rates, reinsurance limits and reserve levels.

Members advise clients, normally through legal advisers, on the pension aspects of divorce and the valuation of life and reversionary interests in settled property and assessment of damages in cases of personal injury, accidents, or compensation for loss of office.

Consulting Actuaries are also active in new areas, advising on - for example - actuarial issues involved with corporate finance and risk.
