Welcome to ACE’s public affairs website. This site is dedicated to issues and campaigns. If you are looking for advice about problems with your child’s education please visit our main website at www.ace-ed.org.uk.
Who we are
ACE is an independent charity that offers advice to parents and carers in difficulties with their child’s education. We advise on the state education system, on issues as diverse as bullying, disability discrimination, transport and whether PE is in the national curriculum.
In 2004 ACE directly helped over 38,000 parents, plus a further 120,000 via our network of trained local advisers in grassroots organisations (including many supporting minority ethnic communities).
What we do
We give a voice to the parents and carers who talk to us by campaigning for an education system that:
- is open and accountable
- supports all children
- promotes the active involvement of families.
Did you know…
- two-thirds of the children who were permanently excluded from school in 2003/4 had special educational needs?
- parents are getting an unfair press for being combative: teachers take their school and/or local authority to court far more often than parents do?
- 59,420 parents had appeals heard for school places in 2003/4?
