Industry secretary Patricia Hewitt has welcomed a big increase in the number of women starting their own businesses.

A new report says the gap between the number of male and female entrepreneurs has closed with record numbers of women going into business.

The UK now has more entrepreneurs than France, Germany, Italy and Japan, research for the government revealed.
