Forum Brief: School inspection system

Experienced head teachers are to offer mentoring advice to struggling schools, in a shake-up of England's inspections.

Inspections will be twice as frequent, but less disruptive, with schools getting much less advance warning of the arrival of inspectors.

David Miliband, school standards minister, said: "Ofsted’s proposals are a major part of the government’s plans to modernise the accountability of schools, and to create a new, more professional relationship with schools.
