Forum Brief: Teachers pay
Ofsted chief inspector David Bell has called for teachers’ pay to be linked more closely to their performance in the classroom.

A DfES spokesperson said:"Our pay proposals, on which we are consulting, support our commitment to providing certainty and affordability for schools, while ensuring that the highest rewards go to our best classroom teachers. Upper Pay Scale three will be the salary to which all good classroom teachers can aspire. In addition a new scheme for excellent teachers will be introduced to provide further reward to excellent teachers for their work in the classroom and supporting colleagues within their school.
