"In the UK we now have a number of measures to better safeguard women with learning disabilities from abuse and exploitation. It is important to continue to raise awarenees of this problem and Amnesty International are to be commended for their efforts."

"Working with women fleeing violent situations Novas' services encompass direct access hostels for women seeking refuge from domestic violence, and direct access accommodation for sex workers and also asylum seekers. Accommodation is provided along with practical and emotional assistance to enable women (and their children) to overcome the effects of their abuse, increase their confidence and regain their independence through support and training and employment opportunities.
"Novas positively welcomes any initiative that aims to put an end to violence against women."
Forum Response: Hubbard Foundation
Marianne Rowell spokesperson for the Hubbard Foundation told ePolitix.com: "The actions being taken by Amnesty International to counter violence against women is extremely important and beneficial. I also feel that an equally important factor to effectively address is why these acts of violence come about and what makes a person violent as opposed to a kind and caring person and also why people seem to change from a previously benign nature to one of violence. In the book Dianetics, L. Ron Hubbard covers his full research into the field of the mind which lays out why this would be in his description of the way the mind works and effects the individual."
