Forum Brief: Tory drug proposals
The Conservatives have outlined new polices on rehabilitation treatment for drug users.
Party leader Iain Duncan Smith and shadow home secretary Oliver Letwin pledged that a future Tory government would boost the number of rehabilitation places from under 2000 to more than 20,000.
Forum Response: National Youth Agency
A spokeswoman for the National Youth Agency told ePolitix.com: "The National Youth Agency welcomes the emphasis on support via rehabilitation, but cautions that such approaches take time to achieve results and require sustained funding to maintain progress.
"They should not be regarded as a quick fix. The policy will also need adequate longterm support structures in communities following rehabilitation and treatment if young people are not to return to the addiction of the streets."
