Forum Brief: MPs charity survey

Macmillan Cancer Relief has been voted the medical charity most effective at campaigning by MPs in a survey by the Future Foundation.

The Future Foundation questions 150 MPs every six months about the effectiveness of campaigns by charities.

Forum Response: Macmillan Cancer Relief

Peter Cardy, chief executive of Macmillan Cancer Relief, told ePolitix.com: "We are delighted that MPs are supporting the work of Macmillan. It's good news that the government is prioritising NHS cancer services and we intend to keep cancer high on its agenda.

"We are proactively working to increase our contact with MPs and Peers. MPs are coming out in force to support Macmillan's campaigns, such as our schools awareness programme, Cancer Talk, and our push for an end to irrecoverable VAT on our programme to build better NHS cancer services.

"Regional fundraisers and committees have strong local links with MPs and regular events supported by Members of both Houses include our December reception, January Palace of Varieties Show and the June House of Lords vs House of Commons Tug-of-War."
