The Labour Party has come under fire over a plan to give roses to nurses on St Valentine's Day.

An internal party memo revealed that party bosses want MPs to hand deliver the flowers on February 14 - but only if the press were informed in advance.

A spokeswoman for the Royal College of Nursing told ePolitix.com: "This sounds like a gimmick. What nurses really want is to be properly paid for the job they do and appreciated throughout the year."
