Top Story:
Tories outstrip Labour in latest poll

A new poll in the Sun gives the Conservatives a three-point lead over Labour after "Gordon Brown's disastrous week".

The Ipsos/Mori poll, conducted following this week's prime minister's questions, put the Tories on 41 points, Labour on 38 and the Liberal Democrats on 11.

The results represent a swing of 10 points to the Conservatives since the last survey by the firm.

Gordon Brown still tops David Cameron in terms of who would make the most capable prime minister, but the gap between the two has been slashed. Brown leads Cameron by 45 points to 29 points, but two weeks ago his lead was 58 to 17.

The paper says the poll is "a devastating reverse after 10 years of unchallenged Labour supremacy". "And it has happened on Mr Brown's watch," it says.

The Mail notes that the Lib Dems' poor showing is likely to add to pressure on leader Sir Menzies Campbell.

ePolitix.com: Shaping the political agenda

As the UK's premier politics website, we aim to improve communication between parliamentarians, constituents and organisations.

We do this in an impartial manner, publishing balanced reports and providing information without taking sides in the political debate.

Working closely with parliamentarians across the political spectrum, we offer a range of opportunities for MPs and peers to explain their work.

And we help the public and other organisations to engage in the political debate and shape the way that policies develop.
