Poll puts parties neck-and-neck

A YouGov poll for the Telegraph puts Labour and the Tories neck-and-neck.

Of those asked how they would vote if a general election were held today, 36 per cent said Labour while the same proportion pledged support for Conservatives. The Liberal Democrats secured the support of 18 per cent.

Just over half - 56 per cent - said they disapproved of the government's record to date.

On the economy, a third thought Labour were more likely to run the economy well, compared to 29 per cent for the Conservatives.

More voters - 29 per cent - still think Tony Blair makes the best prime minister, with 25 per cent saying  they would prefer David Cameron in Number 10 and only eight per cent backing Sir Menzies Campbell.
