According to the FT, a breakdown in bilateral talks over subsidies to aircraft manufacturers has worsened the rift in the trade relationship between the EU and the US.

EU trade commissioner Peter Mandelson and his American counterpart Robert Zoellick blamed each other for the failure of the talks after a bad-tempered exchange.
