Labour set for immigration crackdown
Ministers will next week announce a fresh targeting of asylum and immigration.
Under the plans, which were agreed by the Cabinet on Thursday and will be unveiled on Monday, financial penalties will aim to deter would-be migrants repeatedly appealing against a decision to refuse them entry to the UK.
The five-year plan will also include the introduction of a points system for potential migrants and tougher rules on deporting failed asylum seekers.
