Scottish Conservative leader David McLetchie has called on Jack McConnell to explain his failure to register a visit to the Majorcan villa of BBC Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark.

McConnell confirmed yesterday while he had holidayed there last week, he had also made a visit there about two years ago.

His spokesman said there was no need to declare the visit, but the Times reports that Scottish parliament rules require the declaration of any foreign visit not wholly paid for by the MSP or their immediate family.
