Ministers confirm casinos retreat
The government has scaled back plans for dozens of Las Vegas-style casinos across Britain.
Richard Caborn, the culture minister, said that only eight super casinos would be allowed during the first wave of gaming deregulation.
John Whittingdale, the Conservative culture spokesman, said the government's move was a direct result of its "shambolic" handling of the legislation.
