Straw seeks to block corporate killing law

Jack Straw is attempting to block the introduction of new laws on corporate manslaughter, the Guardian reports.

Publishing a letter sent 10 days ago from the foreign secretary to deputy prime minister John Prescott, the paper reveals that attempts are being made to halt the reforms.

Straw writes that the issue "poses serious problems under further examination".

"There is a strong case for maintaining the current position," he adds.
