IMF blow for Brown
The International Monetary Fund has issued a triple warning over the state of Britain's economy.
In addition to forecasting that growth in 2005 will be much weaker than the chancellor predicts, the financial body argued that Gordon Brown may be forced to raise taxes or cut spending to meet stringent budget rules.
It also renewed warnings over the risk of a housing crash and told would-be buyers to beware of dangers in the property market.
