Estelle Morris, the arts minister and former education secretary, has revealed that she plans to leave politics at the next general election.

"I have not lost my enthusiasm or energy for politics, but I want a different focus and a new challenge outside the House of Commons," she said.

Interviewed in the Times, Morris expressed her disappointment that New Labour had failed to deliver the "new style of politics" she had hoped for when she first came into parliament.
