McConnell backs smoking ban
Following a visit to Dublin Jack McConnell has signalled that he is determined to introduce some form of smoking ban in Scotland.
More than 27,000 people and organisations have responded to a consultation on a ban on smoking in public.
Initially a sceptic on a ban, the first minister said the Dublin experience proved it could be implemented successfully.
