Lawyers acting on behalf of the married woman alleged to have been involved in a three-year affair with the home secretary have appealed to the Press Complaints Commission.

They accuse the media of harassing the woman and her family since the story broke over the weekend.

Meanwhile sources close to the woman's husband have attacked David Blunkett for his part in the alleged affair.
