Inquiry sparks pub industry war of words

A leading pub company has fought back against claims made to a parliamentary inquiry that landlords are being charged too much for rent and beer.

Enterprise Inns has written to Martin O'Neill, chairman of the Commons industry committee, to say that the evidence was slanted.

However Oxfordshire landlady Linda Newport has stood by the claims.
