Britain rules out military intervention in Sudan

International Development secretary Hilary Benn has ruled out using military action to help Sudan.

UN secretary general Kofi Annan has warned that fighting in the area could lead to slaughter on a similar scale to the Rwandan genocide.

Britain is offering its support to the 120 monitors sent into the country by the African Union.
