Committee attacked over obesity report

The Commons health select committee has come under fire for highlighting the death of an overweight three-year-old girl in its recent report on obesity.

Cambridge University research disclosed yesterday that the death was not due to lack of exercise but was caused by a rare genetic condition.

Committee chairman David Hinchliffe defended the report, saying it was being criticised by people "who have not troubled to read the detail".
