Charles Kennedy has made a bid for joint control of the "yes" campaign ahead of the the referendum on the European constitution.

Interviewed in the Times, he says: "I would like to see the general thrust and direction of whatever organisation, whether it is Britain In Europe or a successor to Britain In Europe, to be much more directed from the parliamentary basis. The problem in the past was that it was too much subject to diktat and constraints by Millbank, as was in those days, and Number 10."
