Watchdog set to back teenage MPs

The Electoral Commission is backing the minimum age for standing for parliament to be lowered to 18 or lower, according to the Times.

The proposed changes, designed to counter voter apathy in the young, will be unveiled in a report published next Monday.

Meanwhile the prime minister is set to write to 40,000 lost Labour members in a bid to woo them back to the party.
