The chancellor has said that Labour will continue to fight for the City's interests when it negotiates on new European Union regulations.

"I can affirm to you that, in all the decisions we make, the government will continue to do all in our power to ensure that London remains a pre-eminent financial centre," Gordon Brown told a City audience.
