A judge has ordered that the Ministry of Defence pay compensation to two Kosovan Albanians who were shot at by soldiers from the Parachute Regiment taking part in a 1999 peacekeeping operation.

Shadow defence secretary Nicholas Soames said the ruling would make life "extremely difficult" for British troops who were operating in dangerous peacekeeping missions.
