A team of lawyers have called on the International Criminal Court to investigate whether Tony Blair is guilty of war crimes and genocide in Iraq.

The lawyers, led by Michael Mansfield QC, want the court to examine the actions of the prime minister, foreign secretary, defence secretary and attorney general over claims that the invasion broke international laws.

The parliamentary watchdog Ann Abraham is also reported to have asked to see the attorney general's legal advice on the war as a first stage to deciding whether it should be made public.
