The CBI is to compile its own suggestions for preventing abuses of the European Union working time directive.

The move follows those made by the TUC and the European Commission.

Among the CBI's own proposals is for employers to be prevented from refusing to hire applicants because they decline to sign an opt-out, and an inclusion of an explicit note that the opt-out can be ended by the worker at any time.
