Mixed results from extra education funding
Additional funding for 11-14 education has produced mixed results, according to an Ofsted report published yesterday.
The government has invested an extra £670 million into the transition from primary to secondary education. However, while there had been progress in some areas, weaknesses remain.
Continuity between the two schools "remains inadequate in too many cases", said chief inspector David Bell.
More attention is being paid to numeracy and literacy, leading to the best ever results for 14 year-olds, but the "drive for consistency across subjects is faltering in some schools" in both subjects, he added.
