Unions meet with minister over civil service job cuts
Union leaders have met with Cabinet Office minister Douglas Alexander, to protest against plans to axe 40,000 civil service jobs.
The government had failed in its duty to consult over the plans, they argued.
However, Alexander did not specify which jobs would go in which departments, and declined to pledge that there would be no compulsory redundancies.
