Blair presses for June resolution to NI review

The prime minister has signalled that he wants to see a resolution in the impasse in Northern Ireland reached before the June European elections.

Speaking following talks involving Irish premier Bertie Ahern and political parties in the province, Tony Blair said the peace process "goes backwards" unless progress is made.

"I want to see this settled before the June elections," he added.
