Survivors of the Potters Bar train crash accused ministers of colluding with rail companies to escape blame for the accident.

At a meeting with victims, the British Transport Police said it had passed responsibility for investigating the crash to the Health and Safety Executive.

It also emerged that there was no prospect of a prosecution before the inquests are held next year.
