Double tax whammy on holiday homes

Second-home owners are set to face combined council tax bills of up to £3,000 following a "double whammy" reported by the Times today.

Almost all councils have opted to raise the tax on holiday homes from 50 per cent to 90 per cent.

The report comes as John Prescott prepares to announce council tax increases averaging six per cent.
