Labour considers childcare pledge
Labour is considering whether to include a pledge to extend childcare in its next manifesto, the FT has reported.
Education secretary Charles Clarke said his department was working "very actively" on the plans with the Treasury.
The policy could see a pledge to provide full time nursery places for all three and four-year-olds, with better off parents asked to contribute to the costs.
