Prince Charles personally backed a campaign against the government's policy of slaughtering farm animals during the foot and mouth epidemic.

Interviewed in today's Times, Sir Ben Gill, the outgoing president of the National Farmers Union, says: “Prince Charles was behind the biggest push for vaccination.”
