Police attack Howard over speed camera stance
Police and local authorities have hit back at Michael Howard after the Tory leader criticised their use of speed cameras.
Howard told the AA annual dinner in London last night that speed cameras constituted a “stealth tax”.
In response, the body representing the 42 police and local authority speed camera partnerships, said: “We are extremely disappointed that road safety is being used as a political football in this way. "
