Jack Straw has retreated on a 2002 commitment to get tough with British firms guilty of bribery abroad.

Embassies have been told to tackle corruption with "education rather than prosecution".

According to the World Bank global corruption runs to nearly £800 billion.

Straw said businesses abroad should be "sensitised" to their responsibilities, reports the FT.
