Wanted: Rail volunteers to work at stations
The Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) wants volunteers to “adopt” railway stations under plans to cut costs and increase the number of passengers on dozens of branch lines.
The SRA is looking to reduce the £200 million annual subsidy which supports 60 branch lines covering 1,300 miles.
