Police stations and buildings worth nearly £1 billion are being put on the market by the Metropolitan Police.

Cash from the 10-year rolling programme will be invested in building a fresh generation of “user-friendly” stations and funding new types of “front offices”.

In addition, the government has removed the limit on borrowing by local authorities, in a bid to prevent higher council tax increases.
