Brown offers cash to gap year workers
Working class teenagers who do voluntary work during their gap year will receive financial help with college fees or for starting up their own businesses, Gordon Brown said yesterday.
Issuing a “call to service” to all young people, the chancellor told the annual conference of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations that he hoped voluntary and community service would become the norm rather than the exception.
