Asylum bill under dual attack
An all party committee of MPs and a former Conservative lord chancellor have attacked the government's plans to stop failed asylum-seekers challenging immigration decisions in the higher courts.
The Commons constitutional affairs committee has said it was "deeply concerned" about government plans to prevent the courts from reviewing decisions to deport asylum seekers
Lord Mackay of Clashfern told a meeting last night that David Blunkett’s proposal was “very obnoxious”.
