Blunkett to tighten benefits for EU migrants

David Blunkett will today unveil restrictions on benefit entitlements for immigrants from the 10 countries joining the European Union.

The home secretary will tighten the rules on migrants from countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, with requirements for them to register if they wish to work in Britain.

The Mirror reports that asylum claims in the UK have fallen 40 per cent last year to just over 50,000.
