Barclay brothers target Telegraph

The secretive Barclay brothers, who own the Scotsman newspaper, have made a $466 million bid for the Telegraph newspapers.

The bid is a blow to Richard Desmond and the Mail group, who had both expressed an interest in the titles.

But it could be hampered by a series of lawsuits against Lord Black in the US and will be subject to examination by the new media regulator Ofcom.
