Minister makes miners' strike admission
A government minister who was a miners' union representative during the 1984-85 strike has admitted that he destroyed union documents after hearing pickets had killed a taxi driver.
Transport minister Kim Howells tells a BBC documentary, to be broadcast tomorrow night, that he feared the National Union of Mineworkers in South Wales might be implicated in the death of David Wilkie in November 1984.
